It felt GOOD to be back in Oregon. Can you see the traveling gnome? He came along.
Allright, We all Loved Eugene. This is a beautiful area!!
Wildflowers were everywhere.
The sports facility at O is incredible. And we saw it all..work-out hangers, super-sized stadiums, Duck shops, historic track fields. As Devin says, our trips have truly evolved from when she and kell were little girls. We didn't look at sports anything then!
It is a great college town with funky shops and marvelous organic restaurants..this Glenwood is worth the drive alone. Very reminiscent of Berkeley. Did I mention how GREEN it is?!!
This man Loves the ocean...and makes it all possible.
This spot is mere miles from the beautiful redwoods.
We took awesome hikes.
Kevin's idea of a perfect road trip does not include camping. However, we do stay at some amazing places. This view is from our motel deck in Crescent City,California. People went down to the beach to watch the sun set and have bonfires.
Good-morning Mr. Elk. This is what I saw when I opened the curtains of our charming cabin at -what else..Elk Lodge. Seriously, they were this close!! And so tame.

the great western road trip..#1

A retro road trip is one where Kevin and I haven't been back to since we were wee ones (respectively of course.) And the lucky children get to hear All our memories until they think they are getting car-sick. The obvious choice was the majestic california giant redwoods.
We didn't need to read this sign to know what we were seeing !!
A retro road trip needs funky statues of big-foot and darling little boys.
The Ultimate kitsch..Paul Bunyan's blue ox Babe. I know I have been here before!

I went to Boy Scout camp . Unfortunately I don't have a son in this particular group..but I still went. We set up the tents and kitchen before the rain started. We ate lunch with our hoods up because it was raining and we were in the middle of a meadow (you know how it goes when you are camping.) Blessedly, our first aid class had a tarp overhead because now it was Pouring. Sue and I were the only female leader pair there. We already stood out from the adult crowd since we weren't dressed in either head-to-toe official BSA gear or "camo"- Everything, including a hat with BSA or NRA pins all over it. It is Fun to people watch there. I did enjoy it because 1) we have a cute little group of boys that were LOVING it, 2) it was amazingly beautiful up the Hobble Creek Canyon and 3) what better activity for a summer day than being at camp?!! I left that evening to go celebrate Bo's birthday. This was the way to truly make him happy..go to dinner at Chuck-o-Rama ( talk about a crazy place to people watch- and WHO names their restaurant that?!!) After stuffing ourselves silly with an odd assortment of food, we rolled over to the movies and watched "The A Team." Wowsers, what a guy day..the testosterone was running thick. Happy Birthday Bo-dog..we love you!!

Kevin FINALLY received the package from Bank of America (although it wasn't quite as cute as this, but I don't think he truly minded.) That also makes this, his last day there. For those of you who have issues with big corporation severance packages-relax- because he worked VERY VERY hard for this. They took most of his sanity as well..but we are going to fight to get it back. This was the very last day that you could receive this from B of A, which is also quite fitting, so Kevin. This does not mean that the big Kahuna is retiring... c'mon!! He has a job lined up starting the day after labor day. Which means he gets to have a summer vacation. He hasn't had one since 1979 and is More than ready for one. I have always felt bad during summer when we are planning some fun day and he is going off to work. But not this year. CONGRATULATIONS and ENJOY. We love you !!!
