kevin the father

37.kelly could write a complete novelette on how competitive her dadddy can get over anything with her. When those two whip themselves into a frenzy we all step back and just let them go! Two peas in a pod.
38.once when we were on a road trip, Harrison was on a tinkling jag and after many stops we finally just had him go in an empty bottle. Daddy, unfortunately, took a swig out of the aforementioned bottle. Many people would have crashed the car after such an incident..but not Kev. He did drink about 7 bottles of real pepsi though.
39. Bo is simply grateful that Kevin accepted him. It was too close to call in those early months. And now he loves him as one of his own, even laughs at his really silly jokes.
40.Dallin cried as a little boy when Denver was born because he wanted to be the only son. It is amazing how Daddy has, not only shared the love, but made each child feel like they are the true favorite.
41.I remember when Devin started school in San Carlos and at lunch time Kevin hid in the bushes to see how she was doing. Well she was sitting and eating alone. So he came home to tell me the story and couldn't stop crying. Luckily Devin did make friends, and no one reported Kevin to the cops.
42. Denver loves when we call him Junior because he adores Kevin..and well he should.
43.After following Kevin in a car on Many a drive, Porter is Amazed that he hasn't gotten a 100 or so tickets!! Porter thinks Kevin is funny, and an excellent father-in-law.
44. Kerriann Knows that her daddy will Always help her out. Who could ask for more?!

Kevin's children love him dearly.

need a party planned ? look in the yellow pages.

YES I am done!! No more-how much guacamole for 350 people? No more-shouldn't this be fancier? Having over half of your talent acts canceling the night of the show-never again. Ok, the themes were fun-except if they included the words "pioneer" or "old fashioned". Mmmm,Mmm not doing it again. The dance-of-joy is probably not appropriate when one gets released but i can not contain myself. Never RSVP me again. It happened because the cinco de diecembre party was the best and I really enjoyed putting it on. Ok the Hawaiian christmas luau ( on Dec.7th..connect the dots) was also hot. The people I worked with to pull these things off were fun ( for the most part..its ok they don't read my blog.) 8 christmas parties, probably as many summer picnics, bingo nights, dine-arounds etc.etc.- it has come to a happy ending. No one ever let me run with the "green this party" idea, so I am taking it over to the 11 year old scouts and girls camp this summer ( Kerriann and Chelsie's last.) I think they try to put me into positions were I can do the least weird things. Bring it on I say!! And why do you think they have never asked me to write the ward newsletter?! The fun I could have with that!

27. Luck is a constant companion of Kevin. Whether it be unbeliveable parking spots ( which he finds all the time ) or winning front row tickets to "Wicked" on Broadway (out of hundreds of people ) or getting out of a company/investment Just before it turns south. Follow him closely and see if the luck rubs off onto you!!
28.His favorite appetizer is cream cheese rolled up in piece of salami -toothpicks optional.
29.He can fall asleep,in a suit, on a bare hospital floor..if he has to.
30.Kevin served jail time in a prison in Ecuador. There is something he doesn't put on his resume.
31.Have I mentioned the time back in the early days when I typed up his resume for him and added that he was his high school's MVP player on the basketball team? Wouldn't you know that the first man he talked to, saw and asked him about it. Wouldn't you have loved to see his face?Needless to say kevin hasn't asked me to help with any forms since. But he Really should have been the MVP.
32. Actually,Kevin has been very good about including us in his work life. I appreciate that.
33. He is incredibly productive and a very hard worker..just ask any of the companies he has worked for. And for the most part, he knows when to turn it off when he comes home.
34. Kevin Loves to go on vacations. He loves to plan them,be on them and then reminisce about them. This is an area that Kevin is incredibly generous in..and we all Enjoy that so. He sends "frugal-minded" on a different vacation !! Ha.. we might die broke, but what Great times we have had.
35.Ok, we wont die broke because Kevin is the Ultimate manager of money ( his or yours .) This is a serious talent and he is really good about sharing what he knows with others.
36. Did I mention how Attractive he is ?!!!!

continue on about my valentine..

21. I remember the time we sat down in church and looked at the program and kevin was on there as the speaker for the day. Well,I would have run out the back door and never looked back. But Kevin calmly said,"I read that good article in the Ensign last night I can speak on that". And he did,and it was a great talk. 22. His best talk was the eulogy he gave at Greg's funeral. How on earth did he give that? How did any of us survive that day? 23. I have to follow that with a happy memory.. the sound of those two laughing so hard about something that they would start to cry. 24. when they decided to rent a mini backhoe and dig a hole to sink our trampoline in. They hit the cable line and knocked out the entire neighborhoods service. Undeterred, they "completed" this project only to have the tramp stick out of the ground about 4" and at a tilt. Those two were like a male Lucy and Ethel team. 25. We will Never go to a BYU football game and Not think, wouldn't this just be perfect if Greg were here. So Rise and Shout... 26. Giving Kevin a plate of chocolate chip cookies with a candle in it instead of birthday cake on February 10th.

aloha 'oe

Took a little break in Hawaii to celebrate Kevin's birthday. I thought I would do a couple entries while I was there, but I never saw a computer. I also realized why there aren't bloggers from Hawaii and other lovely tropical areas-but oh, the good ones hail from Maine, Vermont and other snow bound states. Hmmmm, could it be that you would rather be Outside enjoying life than on a computer? Well here I sit again with the fire burning beside me. Anywho, it was an Awesome trip (and I don't use that word unless I mean it dude.) We didn't play tourist at all. Bought two beach chairs at Longs Drugstore the first day we were there and just stopped at whatever hit our fancy. We did hit some cool botanical gardens that the little boys would never had gone for if they were with us. I can't even remember seeing kevin quite that relaxed..it was wonderful.

Am I right?!!!!

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

11. Of Course I was wrong. We have been together 327 months. oops.
12.Kevin has excellent teeth. He Never has dental problems.
13. Ditto his hair..but you all know that. I bet he never goes bald. Devin and K-Ann both got his luxurious thick hair and are happy they did.
14. Kevin was Mr. February in the "Hunks of BYU" 1982 edition.
15.Once,years ago, we got caught in a driving rainstorm at a Kenny Loggins concert up in Park City. He was so soaked that he striped down to his garments and drove home like that.
16.Another funny memory was when he got stopped for speeding on our way to the Oakland temple. The CHP noticed his consecrated oil vial
dangling on his key chain and asked to see it. Before we could stop him he opened up the vial and tipped it upside down to see what was inside. He just gave Kev a warning as he wiped the oil off his face and we tried hard not to laugh!
17.Kevin-by all accounts-should be classified as legally blind. ok, deaf too.
18.Nobody loves those stinking boring political commentary shows more than the big Kahuna.
19.I think Kevin would make an excellent honest politician..but he is married to some crazy radical that would ruin his career the first time she opened her mouth.
20.I am going to end todays post with a sweet/sad memory. In between Denver and Harrison we had a little baby I was incubating die . I could not believe that i didn't know it, that I didn't feel that. I was totally a wreck over this disturbing turn of events. The baby also wasn't exiting on its own, so I had to have a D and C. They put me on a medicated drip of some sort to numb the pain, but I wasn't completely out. I remember enough that Kevin was leaning over the hospital bed,was right next to my face, crying so hard and saying over and over how sorry he was. I wasn't alone in this, I never am. He is always there.

Ah, February. It means I survived another January ( 50 down, 50 to go!) The darn groundhog can do what he wants, I am sprinting toward spring. It is the season my sweetie celebrates his birthday. And not just Any b-day..he was born 50 years ago ( during the winter olympics in the Squaw Valley.) His mother was on the USA Curling Team, and had him the night before the big game and was up and curling the very next day. All right, it is a bit of an exaggeration, and I have been accused of padding a story or two before. But I promise, in this entry I am only going to write the truth ( or how I remember it.) Fifty memories of Kevin..or things that the world should know about him. It is a month long project, one post is not allowed to be that long.
  1. I have known kevin 314 months.( this will get more exciting.)
  2. He has written more letters to me than any other person in the world ( %90 of those were during our dating years.)
  3. We wrote back and forth during his mission. I thought he looked like Christopher Reeves. The first letter was to wish him a happy pioneer day, even though they don't celebrate that in Ecuador.
  4. The first time I saw him was at Keith Bradshaw's homecoming. He was late and I saw him stop at the door of the church and look in. He was framed in the doorway and the sun was shining on him..like a spotlight. I thought he looked like Adonis.
  5. After church we talked about Sensual Sandwich ( a restaurant ) and he said the best one was the "stimulator". I found this provocative.
  6. Kevin got me a kitten to show me how smitten he was. We named her Louise. She lived 14 years and although we loved her dearly Kevin was fond of saying,"there is No such thing as a "free" kitty." hmmmm, many more animals were to follow.
  7. He gave a Whole new meaning to the phrase "football fanatic." Wow.
  8. Can a control freak and a free-spirit coexist?!!! Yes, I think they can.
  9. Kevin was flying up to Reno to interview with Bruce Wood at CalFed, and Bruce called me and said that he was meeting Kevin at the airport and realized he didn't know what he looked like. So I said he looked just like Tom Selleck (Magnum PI) Well he Did. Bruce and Kevin became dear friends and they are kind of big boys, so they always laughed about the" likeness."
  10. The Reno years were ideal ones. With our little girls, the Copes, the Woods and of course Sue and Greg. Great memories-they should be their own sub-set.
  11. When we left Reno we couldn't make up our mind about where to go. He had two job offers , in two different states, with two house offers pending. We packed up all our belongings in a u-haul with Louise ( the attack cat ) to guard it,spent the night at the local Circus Circus and decided that night where to go the next day. Life with Kevin.
  12. He loves Pro-andCon lists. I am sure that he has created thousands of them.It is quite endearing.
